Mechanism of Action

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids) derived from a protein found in human gastric juice. It activates VEGFR2 for angiogenesis, stimulates nitric oxide via the Akt-eNOS axis, upregulates growth factors (EGF, FGF, HGF), recruits fibroblasts and tendon cells to injury sites, and modulates the NO-system and GABAergic system. Uniquely, it shows healing effects across virtually every tissue type studied.

Therapeutic Uses

• •Tendon, ligament, and muscle injuries: The most extensively studied application. Accelerates healing in Achilles tendon, MCL, rotator cuff, and quadriceps models.
• •Gut healing (IBD, leaky gut, ulcers): Provides systemic cytoprotection to gastric and intestinal mucosa. Studied extensively in inflammatory bowel disease models.
